Pandemics in The Modern Era

Here is a chart of the major pandemics over the last 2000 years. Big credit to Mark Mirek and Elijah Frasier for doing the research and putting this together.

  • We heard about an interesting comment from a doctor this week. He said that diseases derived from clean animals tend to affect only the consumer (ie. Mad Cow disease and it’s derivative vCJD). Diseases derived from unclean animals are highly contagious, and affect many other people. He is researching this aspect further. If it becomes an article, we will publish it here.

  • During the Swine Flu pandemic, the average number of fatalities per day was 1607. To date, the average daily fatalities with COVID-19 is 130.

  • According to one of our Nation’s founders—John Adams—this nation of America would succeed if the people kept Godliness in their lives and were law-abiding citizens.

  • This virus scare has highlighted that some people are willing to exchange freedoms for ‘security.’ You and I want both, but which do we want more?

  • Italy has had 4,825 deaths to date. One way to report that is “Less than 4900 people have died from COVID-19.” The other way to report it is “ALMOST 6000 PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN ITALY !!!” The news is universally patterned after the latter, causing widespread panic and hysteria. While we should be diligent, the situation has dramatically elevated to a mob-like fear spreading faster than the virus itself.

  • What kind of demented person says this? "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation" (1988). It was Prince Philip of England. Radical environmentalism, anybody??

  • We should also, as a nation, be asking ourselves, how do we flatten the curve of oncoming recession? If we don’t come up with a good answer, we could be looking at a future where bankruptcies outnumber coronavirus deaths.

  • On a positive note, the USA has only 81 cases per million people. Italy has 886 cases per million.

  • A couple tips: Listen to some appropriate music once in a while, don’t panic, and hang on to your sense of humor. This too shall pass.
