When is it Time to Disfellowship? EUD's Response to Pellegrini (part 2)

EUD’s answer to Pellegrini’s proposals in 2019 as found on his website:

“We have seen that the death of Christ is substitutive and expiatory, reconciling and transforming, and here it is not the case to repeat the texts. The arguments and explanations Pellegrini use to nullify this meaning are theologically poor; biblically mean, soteriological wrong and inconsistent. The biblical analysis he does is partial. The teaching through which he intends to defend the image of God seems, to us, weak. God is love and He expresses the upmost of his love of him by giving his life to him for his friends to him, (Joh 15:13). Pellegrini requests to review the Adventist theological and doctrinal position on the cross and to change some article of faith. Now we are answering to his requests from him: the analysis we made on the Pellegrini's study does not allow us to recognize the biblical validity of the arguments put forward in His proposal from him.

On the contrary, the work done on the issues in question have given us good elements to believe in the biblical foundation of articles 9, 10 and 24 of the Adventist beliefs. For sure the church (and the theological research) must remain open to any possible revision and further study.

We kindly ask Pellegrini to stop preaching and spreading his convictions of him within the church. There are other areas for debate and doctrinal confrontations (university campuses, theological circles, and ad hoc meetings) but not in preaching and teaching from a pulpit. Having credentials as Adventist Minister does not authorize anybody to preach, to offer a sermon or to publish about an understanding that the church officially comprehends as contrary to the biblical dictates and to its fundamental beliefs. Whoever wants to be honest with his pastoral mandate cannot preach or teach against the doctrines of his own church.”

Bottom line. People who teach contrary to the Bible should be disfellowshipped for the safety and protection of the flock of God (1 Peter 5:1-5; 1 Timothy 3:1; Matthew 18:17).
