God Protects Halloween ?

Amongst the many arguments in Christianity, one argument you hear in the Fall is, “Should a Christian celebrate Halloween?”

If you ask the mega church in Albuquerque NM known as Legacy, their pastors would tell you that God is for Halloween.

In 2023, Legacy Church put on their usual Trunk or Treat programs where they celebrate Halloween in their church property. The view of many churches is, in order to keep the kids safe we should take Halloween away from the streets and bring it into the church.  Trendy.

Halloween is a time to celebrate all things evil and creepy. Halloween is also a time where it is believed that dead spirits can communicate with the living. November 1st is All Saints Day in the Catholic Church and All Hallows Eve is Halloween.

This, along with many other traditions on Halloween, has lots of variations.  Christians should have no part in it, but to churches like Legacy, it is embraced  because these churches are not teaching people the truth as it is written in Scripture. But, it’s a safe place where the world can come and get blessed by some spirit and come out feeling that their lives are ok with nominal Christianity. We use to call this the Catholic Church but it’s now called Christianity in general (or apostate Protestantism).

Vandals

This year Legacy had some vandals break into their facility and steal items and decorations they were going to use for their Halloween celebration. According to KOB News, the thieves stole $6,000 worth of generators, candy, tents, costumes, and more.

But, according to the female children’s pastor, the important stuff was protected by God. Here’s her quote,

“Yes, things were stolen here,” said Legacy Church Children’s Pastor Evalani Stockton-Nieto. “Physical things, candy, tents, things that we needed to make this event happen, but the enemy could not steal what God’s hand was over.”

She meant that the thieves couldn’t stop their Halloween program. God may not have protected the physical things because they were stolen but Gods hands were over the Halloween event and the show must still go on. The show must go on. God is protecting Halloween, or as they call it in the megachurch Trunk or Treat.

So according to this ‘Pastor’, God now protects evil. I understand many will say no it’s about the kids etc. but why are Christians teaching kids to follow evil? Regardless of how we can spin something this is basic stuff. You can’t argue what Halloween is all about. You have to be pretty mental or delusional to convince yourself that God is in favor of Halloween. And if you are, you shouldn’t be in any pastoral position. Yet this is the reality of apostate Protestantism today.

Conclusion

I know that God has His people in all churches, and that churches like legacy can be a stepping stone to a deeper knowledge of the Bible as these people grow. And when they grow they will go to other churches who are closer to biblical teaching then Legacy. But it’s still sad to hear all this from a huge church and from anyone who claims the title of ‘pastor’.

Let us remember this,

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22).

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1Peter 5:8).
