New Jersey Conference Excoriated For Scheduling Men to Speak At Women's Convention

On March 30th, the New Jersey Conference of Seventh-day Adventists posted an advertisement for an upcoming Women’s Convention on their website and their Facebook page:

The April 16-17 Women’s Convention listed five men as the presenters (see above). Here’s the deal: In the pursuit of political correctness, the New Jersey Conference came up with the idea of having only men host a women’s convention and having only women host a men’s convention in August 27-29. But..

When we try to be politically correct, we usually create chaos and that’s what happened on social media. Political correctness meets victimhood. A firestorm erupted. The New Jersey Conference’s Facebook and Twitter pages were ablaze with offended feminists all trying to out-victim each other, and decrying this upcoming Convention. This is to be expected in our confused woke culture. After all, victimhood is incentivized in our culture, and what do you get MORE of? Whatever you incentivize. Back to the FIRESTORM. Here are a few of the outraged comments:

“WHO is responsible for THIS?!?! What were you all THINKING? WERE you thinking?”

“no freaking way! WOW!”

OMG! This can’t be true!!!

Stefan Burton-Schnüll “And now the anger rises: Brethren! [Wait a minute. I thought ‘Brethren’ was a gender specific micro-aggression] Please cancel. Apologize. Then put women in charge of the next conference without mansplaining and steamrolling them in the committees.”

“WOW! Y’ALL ARE REALLY CLUELESS. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY HAVE A WOMEN’S CONFERENCE WITH NO WOMEN IN IT?”

Michael Timothy Nixon “I am really disappointed to see this. Having spent time in this conference, I know that you all know better. How could you all do something this egregious?”

Phipps Mohama Moncher “That’s something only YOU, the conference people, will be watching. Are you telling me there are absolutely no women capable to speak/preach? This is unacceptable by all means. ENOUGH OF THIS. #NoToSexism”

the topics are so jarring and full of toxic masculinity!”

April WilliamsWhat in the whole entire world! Cancel this event, apologize to the people and regroup. I am in Diversity & Inclusion...call me because you need my help.”

Thomas Luttrell to Pamela Consuegra “Michael Nixon addresses this point above. It doesn’t matter if women spoke at a men’s conference. Men are always already dominating in telling women how to live their lives. We don’t need more men to do that anymore.”

“CALL THEM OUT!!!!!!!!! This has me fuming on the day of the Lord.”

Claudia SmithWhat a list of speakers! Is this Saudi Arabia? No women allowed to speak at Women’s Convention?”

The Conference Caves

After 24-hours of the outrage mob, the New Jersey Conference caved to the demands of the mob. The convention is postponed. The apology.

Responses From Mollified Outragers

Michael Timothy Nixon “Thank you for listening and apologizing. Looking forward to hearing about what will come next.”

B. Schoun “I think it's funny, but I wouldn't have been offended if I had received this invitation. To be honest, when I choose to attend a spiritual conference, especially if it's virtual, it would only be because I believed the speaker to be Holy Spirit filled, and it wouldn't matter what their gender is.”

Hector Samuel Perla “I'm perplexed on how this event even passed through a committee and a conference president sign-off without anyone seeing a problem. This is a problem!! This better lead to a bunch of women in leadership roles!!!”

N. Trevi “Also.... there is no name on the letter ... no one took ownership.... they hide behind “the administration” what a poor ethical model!”

“Don’t apologize, just admit you don’t have women in leadership.”

“The fact that it took an outcry for you to recognize the issues speaks volumes”

“If women are not in leadership roles within your conference, things like this will continue to happen!”

Conclusion

Political correctness meets feminism meets victimhood meets the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Victimhood emerges victorious, but they are still locked in a social justice group hug dancing around the dying embers of biblical roles, while Ze LGBTQi+ stands sniffling off to the side “Why wasn’t I invited!?!”

That’s next.
