Texas Postpones Controversial Bylaws Changes Until 2023

The Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists held their constituency session today, a meeting that contained a controversial gender-neutral bylaws change in the agenda. Here’s what went down..

For some unknown reason, the conference officials decided to have the meeting networked to 21 different sites and connect them online. Odd, because the great state of Texas is wide open, thanks to the wisdom of their governor. They could have held the meeting in-person at a central venue, like normal.

Glitches

The meeting was nightmare. There were all kinds of technological issues. There was echo, people getting cut off, voices in the background, strange noises, confusion and interruptions. Meeting participants were getting frustrated, and after getting two hours behind in the meeting schedule, the President took a short break, just before the Constitution & Bylaws agenda item. He came back on and asked the group if they wanted to postpone the bylaws agenda item to 2023. It was almost unanimous.

There were no official recordings of the meeting, but we have this snippet:

I am told by a couple sources that numerous delegates were informed of the illegality of the proposed gender-neutral changes and prepared to oppose it and vote it down. Many of them had been made aware of the problem through Fulcrum7. We praise God for that.
