Last Generation Theology Conference to be held at Andrews University

The following is dedicated to the memory of M.L. Andreasen, Herbert E. Douglass, Herb Poholka and Carlye Hummel Strever

In February 2020, discussions began between Andrews Theological Seminary Dean Jiri Moskala and Last Generation for Christ cofounder and event organizer Danny Strever to hold a conference on the subject of Last Generation Theology. After delays because of the Covid pandemic, discussion renewed this past week and the LGT Symposium will occur during the regular 2022 school year at Andrews University.

Both Professor Moskala and myself feel that it would prove to be a great blessing to bring both sides together that have differing and sometimes opposite understandings of the subject.

This event would be conducted in a friendly environment so that each of the individuals could present their respective viewpoints on this controversial topic.

In Memory

As many of you know, my dear wife Carlye was diagnosed with inoperable Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. This shocking news was given to us on Valentines Day 2.14.20 and she passed to her rest one year later on 2.21.21.

Before she died she wrote a heart touching message of love and gratitude to each and every one of you. You may read it here.

Carlye was a peacemaker and it was her strong desire to see conflicts resolved by Christ’s method alone. I asked her a few weeks before her death, what her dying request was as editor-in-chief of Last Generation for Christ:

1. She said to reprint our booklet “The Mind of Christ” which was her consummate editorial work on the subject of righteousness by faith in the context of the final generation.

2. Carlye’s strong desire was to see this LGT conference happen and that it succeeded in bringing people together in pursuit of truth.

Please know that our family has deep connective roots to Emmanel Missionary College, currently known as Andrews University, the Michigan Conference and the Lake Union.  The reason being is that her maternal great grandfather Elder William Riley Guthrie was the Lake Union president from 1918-1928.

What Better Thing to Have Than the Mind of Christ?

“Let this Mind be in you that was also was in Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 2:1-30).

You will find this booklet along with other viable materials by authors Pastor Victor Vaughn, Michigan Conference; Dave Fiedler, author; Norman McNulty, physician/theologian; Elder M. L. Andreasen, author/theologian; Dennis Priebe, Amazing Facts Revivalist; Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick, author; and Elder Jay Gallimore, author and past president Michigan Conference (retired).

The 50th Anniversary 2007 Questions on Doctrine Conference held on the Andrews University campus is a model which proved that positive things can occur when these type of events are conducted in a Christ like manner.

QOD protagonists from both sides listened to each other, ate meals together, participated in the ordinance of humility and partook in the Lord’s supper side by side.

King Jesus washed his betrayers’ feet, ought not we do the same with those that we disagree with?

Here is the link to QOD conference.

I recommend reading every paper or listening to the audio recordings of all the presenters, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you may learn, I certainly was.

No other book on the subject of Last Generation Theology has aroused so much controversy in the recent history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as “God’s Character and the Last Generation”.

This volume along with three other books were released in 2018, two by the Pacific Press, one by Andrews University Press and one by Oak & Acorn Publishing which is a Pacific Union Conference entity.

As a result of these volumes being advertised in the ABC catalog and Union papers in a continuing manner and distributed far and wide, a decision was made by the pastoral staff of the Sacramento Central Seventh-day Adventist Church to hold the first ever Last Generation Theology symposium with the  title of “God’s Character and the Final Generation”. You can watch it here:

Presenters were Elder Dennis Priebe, Amazing Facts Revivalist; Norman McNulty M.D., Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick, author of “Cleanse and Close” and Andrews University Professor P. Gerhard Damsteegt (retired).

The presenters of the upcoming LGT conference will be named and revealed at a later time as the presenter invitee list is finalized, plans are to include all those who contributed to the content of the four books mentioned and those on the opposite side of the equation who have invested many years of deep study on this most vital Bible doctrine.

You are welcome to send your speaker suggestions, questions and pertinent comments regarding the upcoming  LGT conference to:  http://www.lastgenerationforchrist.org/contact

We solicit and covet your prayers as our beloved Seventh-day Adventist church moves forward in unity.

Cheers and blessings,

Danny Strever
