Ben Carson at CPAC: A Republic if We Can Keep It

Ben Carson gave a brief speech at CPAC in Dallas yesterday. He told the Ben Franklin story about the lady who asked Franklin if what kind of government the delegates had opted for, a republic or a monarch, and Franklin replied, “A republic, if we can keep it.”

“If we can keep it. That’s where we are right now. We are on the verge of losing it. We cannot relax one bit. We see our children being indoctrinated at a very early age, being told that the most important determinant of what happens to them is the color of their skin.”

“This nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values and principles that show us how we are supposed to think.” He urged us to return to Biblical values that made America great to begin with. “We have got to pray to God that He will protect us until we get some real leadership back in this country once again.”

What about the little babies who have not been born yet, but who are fully human. Let me read you something from the Bible. It says, “If thou forebear to deliver them who are drawn unto death and those who are ready to be slain, if thou saith, ‘behold we knew it not’ doth not he who pondereth the heart consider it? and he who keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall he not render to every man according to his works?” [Proverbs 24:11-12]

God expects us to do something when innocent people are being drawn to death. And I think that verse speaks for itself.

The whole speech is here.

Here is a brief four minute interview about the speech.
