Blasphemy In Revelation 13

In Revelation 13 and 17 there is a beast representing a worldly power that has the name and is full of names of blasphemy. It blasphemes God, His name, His tabernacle and those who dwell in heaven.  It has been established as being the Papacy.  Most Protestant churches used to espouse this as well but now have capitulated to Rome in the false belief of ecumenism.

The Spirit of Prophecy has Much to say About the Blasphemous Workings of the Papacy

  • Wages war against God’s people (AA 265).

  • Papal rites, rituals, customs based on pagan doctrines, ceremonies and superstitions.  Human theories and traditions in place of humble simplicity and God’s requirements (GC88  49).

  • Papist priest presuming to have the power of creating God, the Creator of all things (GC88  59).

  • Priests and popes who compel all to conform to their standards (GC88  77).

  • Assumptions of the indulgence-mongers in selling certificates of pardon to those who wanted absolution not penitence and reform (GC88  128).

  • Is the power that blasphemes (GC88  439;  HM Nov 1, 1893 par 10).

  • Wages war against God’s people and trample upon His law (LP  117).

  • Tramples on God’s law (RH July 28, 1904 par 8-10).

  • Thinks to change times and laws – opening his mouth in blasphemy (PHO86  10).

God’s remnant people to give the warning message against this blasphemous power; come out and don’t receive the mark, name, or number  (ST June 18, 18943 par 10).

  • Claims Infallibility- in others words, “I do always those things that please Him”  (DA 467; 8 T 208).

  • Dreadful blasphemy: to say that God delights in witnessing unceasing tortures.  To say, the endless misery of the Lost in the flames of purgatory shows God’s hatred of sin…  (GC88  536).

  • The practice of idolatry and the apostasy of a people, like Ahab and Israel, resulting in spiritual darkness (PK 115).

How does the Papacy blaspheme God’s name? (Rev 13:6).

How does it blaspheme the tabernacle?  (Rev 13:6.)  The Tabernacle in Heaven was used as the pattern for the one on earth.  Closer examination of the articles within the Tabernacle will help us see how it is blasphemed while remembering that each article in the Tabernacle represents different aspects of Christ’s ministry.

Questions. Do we practice our own versions of the above blasphemies?

  • Do we think that by participation in various humanitarian projects, social justice events, living down to societal norms (lgbtq), and bowing to political correctness (including abortions and teaching evolutionary theory) will earn our entrance to Heaven?  Are we no longer in need of a Savior?

  • Do we think that willful disobedience against God’s church order and His Commandments (women’s ordination and lgbtq office/position appointments, and not keeping Sabbath holy) will be cleansed repeatedly?  Do we think that the broken cisterns of the world will provide us with that clean water that purifies?

  • Do we feed on the modern infidel authors who are readily referenced in our publications instead of the faithful writings of the Spirit of Prophecy and the Holy Scriptures?  Do we also feed upon the unclean fodder of rebellious church leaders who push their agendas through church publications; publications that were meant to bring us doctrine?

  • Do we use strange fire, turning away from the true light to that of our own making? Do we hold to the truth of, “to the Law and to the Testimony, if they speak not according to this word it is because there is no light in them”?

  • Is the incense of our prayers an abomination to the Lord because of our rebellious/defiant behavior?

  • Are we clothed in blue, purple, and scarlet? Do we uphold all of God’s law (blue) or just the ones convenient at the moment?  Are we being loyal to the royalty (purple) God has entrusted to us?  Do we go about trying to gain our own royalty by engaging in social justice issue and events?  Isn’t evolution an insult to God and His royalty?  How can He be King of kings if He isn’t the Creator?  And are we clothed in scarlet:  strength and honor?  Are we honoring God by claiming His strength to overcome sin, keep His Commandments, and do His will?

  • How long will God bear with our breaking His Law?  Or our presuming upon His mercy?  Can we expect to enjoy His blessings while we loathe the bread He has provided?  And as we bring our ‘rods’ to lay up before the Lord in arrogance will He not cause us to know who He has chosen to be leaders within HIS church?

So we see how His name and tabernacle is blasphemed.  Now we study to see how those who dwell in heaven are blasphemed (Rev 13:6).   The blasphemy is found in:

  • The belief of the immortality of the soul; that one goes either to heaven or hell or purgatory upon death of the body.

  • The belief that you can pray to those ‘immortal souls’ who will then intercede on your behalf or on the behalf of the wretched victims of purgatory and they will help them.

  • That they can appear to people here on earth to warn, comfort, or instruct.

But the dead know not anything (Eccl 9:5).   In the day that they die, their thoughts perish (Ps 146:3,4).

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents , unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Tim 3:1-5).

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.  Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him” (Col 3:8-10).

We now have a better understanding of blasphemy and how the Papacy is that power that blasphemes.  May we warn everyone to come out of her so that they will not suffer her fate.  May we choose godliness and put off all these things.
