Dan Wysong, is the former pastor of Chico SDA Church who became ‘famous’ for presiding over the baptism of a ‘married’ (they are not married in God’s eyes) lesbian couple into his church in June, 2016.

This unbiblical action of Chico SDA prompted widespread scrutiny and stricture from Church members across America, even invoking a weak statement from the NAD (who managed to weave social justice into their statement).

Numerous churches and pastors in the NCC (Northern California Conference) expressed their concern with Chico in general, and Dan Wysong in particular, for setting a morally dangerous unbiblical precedent in Adventism. It was institutional approval of unrepentant open sin. Like many faithful members across the world, we waited for the Conference, Union and Division to censure this non-biblical action and settle the problem. We waited in vain.

There were appeals to the NCC to rectify this situation, which they steadfastly refused under the excuse that it was a private personnel issue, and did not affect other members in their Conference (tell that to Achan’s family).

Most recently, there were two motions submitted by the Sacramento Central Church in business session to the NCC Executive Committee to address this unresolved situation at the September 30 NCC Constituency meeting. The requests were denied by Marc Woodsen and a complicit NCC Executive Committee.

On October 20, Dan Wysong dedicated the new baby of this lesbian couple and delivered his last sermon. Where he was going next, many were unsure. Now we know.

'They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us” (1 John 2:19).

Dan should feel right at home at St. John’s in Woodland, CA. The United Church of Christ (UCC) is (yet another) Social Justice church. From their website:

And in 2005, we were the first church in America to endorse marriage equality. We're doing justice. Join us.

Environmentalism, gay rights, Social Justice, carbon neutral churches, open immigration, labor Unions, and feminism are just a few of the SJW enthusiasms of the UCC. And no one will question Dan Wysong the next time he baptizes an open homosexual into the Church. He will be protected from mean-spirited short-sighted (tic) individuals who still believe that the Bible means what it says about human sexuality. In other words, it’s a lot like the NAD, PUC, and UCC.

The gap is rapidly narrowing between liberal evangelicalism and liberal Adventism. Dan Wysong should feel right at home each Sunday.
