Independent Baptist Preacher Greg Locke Says Sabbath Keeping is a Demonic Doctrine

December 14, 2022 Gerry Wagoner

Greg Locke is an American Baptist pastor and founder of Global Vision Bible Church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. He recently gave a sermon in which he said that Sabbath keeping is a demonic doctrine.

In his sermon he said that he gets contacted by certain Seventh-day Adventists who tell him “You’re worshiping the devil because you meet on Sunday.”

Regardless of whether this is an overstatement or not, that isn’t putting our best foot forward, friends. When the issue of worship becomes plain, honest-hearted people will follow Jesus wherever He leads (Revelation 14:4). That includes us too.

Doug Batchelor addressed Locke’s statements regarding the Sabbath in a Tuesday morning worship service. Here it is:

Our Response

Locke is very political and very boisterous. I believe a Christian should avoid politics as much as possible, first to keep his sanity, and second to avoid becoming double-minded (James 1:8). In my opinion, Locke is imbalanced in this regard.

Locke is also mistaken on the Sabbath. It is a tremendous blessing in the life of a believer, a sign of mutual belonging between the Creator and His children (1 John 3:2; Ezekiel 20:12; John 14:15; Revelation 14:12).

****

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are they who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12).
