Brave Sister in Alaska Renounces Her Ordination in a Sermon

The North Pole Seventh-day Adventist church sits south of Fairbanks along the Tanana River.

Linda Kubacki joined this SDA Church in 2015, when the ordination of women was a big issue, due to the July GC Session where it was rejected for the third straight time. She didn’t understand what all the fuss was about, having not studied the issue for herself in the Bible.

In late 2021, she was encouraged to be ordained as an elder at her local church. She allowed it to happen at the encouragement of her pastor, and resolved to study it out later.

Last Sabbath, she shared the conclusion of her study to the North Pole Church: The Bible does not support the ordination of women.

If we are a bible-based church and have always been Seekers for the truth then why would there be any gray areas when God's word is the authority on this matter? How can we claim the 28 fundamental beliefs when we deny the Bible teachings on certain spiritual topics and certain spiritual matters? Can we just pick and choose what we want to follow or believe?

Is it because we have allowed the world to dictate how we operate our churches?

I was told that women's ordination is not a moral issue. Eating fruit [Genesis 3] is not wrong in every circumstance [but]it's not the fruit that was the problem, it was the disobedience to God's command.

In Leviticus 10, Nadab and Abihu offered profane fire before the Lord—which He had not commanded them, so fire went out from the Lord and devoured them.

I believe that the Bible must be our standard for every doctrine of practice. We are a bible-believing church.

We must not let ourselves join with the worldly ideas which could lead us to rebel against our God. Unity cannot be kept with a policy that is in direct conflict with Scripture. We must judge everything by Scripture “If they speak not according to this word is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).

“Heavenly Father thank you for the truth of the Bible that helps us to stay in unity with You. Please guide us with your Holy Spirit, and help us to remain steadfast in the truth.”

We thank God for honest-hearted members like Linda whose hearts are sensitive to biblical truth. She deserves our respect and encouragement.

May there be many more like her.
