Jeffrey Shuttleworth is a Jamaican pastor who leads Tarrant Baptist Church and Freedom Come Ministries International in Kingston, Jamaica. The Jamaica Gleaner has described his preaching as ultra-conservative.
The above presentation argues that seventh-day Sabbath observance is a matter of obedience and biblical alignment, not manmade tradition.
Shuttleworth says the series was prompted by what he describes as guidance from the Holy Spirit. He announces that their fellowship will start full Saturday services from sunset, September 11 keeping the 24-hour day set aside for God while still allowing family time as led. He stresses he is not speaking for the Seventh-day Adventist Church and does not want to force anyone; his role is to present the way, citing John 10 that Christ’s sheep hear his voice.
He treats the fourth commandment as still binding, saying most Christians accept the others but ignore the Sabbath. In his view, Sabbath-keeping is not itself the basis of salvation, but love and discipleship are tied to obedience. Leviticus 23 places the weekly Sabbath first among the Lord’s appointed times.
He traces Sunday as the main Christian worship day to Emperor Constantine’s 321 decree and later church actions, including a ban on “Judaizing” by resting on the Sabbath, Pope Sylvester’s naming of Sunday the Lord’s Day, and Eusebius’s claim that Sabbath duties were transferred to the first day. He links that day to pagan sun worship and says no person can alter what God has written. The talk frames the Sabbath as the foundation for aligning practice with Scripture rather than later human custom.
Please pray for this man, that he remains open to biblical truth, and stays faithful and humble in his Christian journey.
