Washington DC—Yesterday, the Supreme Court of the United States handed down an 8-1 decision against the dominant LGBTQ ideology.
The state of Colorado had adopted legislation which stated that a licensed counselor could only affirm same-sex orientation or other gender-related sexuality-related identity questions. As a Christian counselor, Kaley Chiles was legally prohibited from helping a young person discuss and resolve LBTGQ issues, even if the young person requested her help.
Under the rubric of banning ‘conversion therapy’ in Colorado, licensed counselors can only be affirming of transgender ideology and cannot oppose it. This was an absolute matter of Christian religious liberty.
The Ruling
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday sided with a conservative Christian counselor who argued that Colorado’s 2019 law banning “conversion therapy” for LGBTQ+ minors violated her First Amendment right to free speech.
The court’s 8-1 opinion, authored by Justice Neil Gorsuch, holds that the Colorado law seeks to “regulate speech based on viewpoint,” and therefore a legal standard known as “strict scrutiny” must be applied to it.
“The First Amendment stands as a bulwark against any effort to prescribe an orthodoxy of views, reflecting a belief that each American enjoys an inalienable right to speak his mind and a faith in the free marketplace of ideas as the best means for finding truth,” Gorsuch wrote. “Laws like Colorado’s, which suppress speech based on viewpoint, represent an egregious assault on both commitments.”
As applied here, Colorado’s law does not just regulate the content of Ms. Chiles speech. It goes a step further, prescribing what views she may and may not express.”
The state of Colorado, along with several other states, has placed itself in support of the gender revolution, the LGBTQ revolution, the sexual revolution, and transgender ideology. Hopefully, this ruling on Colorado will have a positive effect on legislation in 22 other left-wing states as well. We can only hope that corrective action is taken in those states soon.
This Supreme Court ruling revealed that the Colorado law was a direct violation of the First Amendment right of Christian and biblical counseling. Freedom of Speech is the first amendment to the US Constitution.
This is a big story—a big religious liberty issue. This 8:1 decision is a smack down of so much of the logic of the transgender idealogues, but it’s been very effective in many liberal states. And so you’ve got a lot of states that have adopted this kind of legislation.
The lone SC justice who voted to uphold the ban was Ketanji-I-don’t-know-what-a-woman-is-Jackson. No great surprise here. She’s clearly a DEI justice. Justices Kagan and Sotomayor, very liberal in their own sense, voted with the majority. They saw the clear constitutional issue. In a concurring opinion written by Justice Elena Kagan, Justice Sonia Sotomayor also joined in making the statement that the clear issue here is the freedom of speech. It’s the First Amendment protections of speech.
Olympics Ban Transgender Men From Competing Against Women
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced a new policy in March 2026 that effectively bans transgender women (biological males who identify as women) from competing in the female category at the Olympic Games and other IOC events, starting with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The deciding factors were fairness, safety, and a changing climate on sex and gender in several countries, especially the United States.
"At the Olympic Games, even the smallest margins can be the difference between victory and defeat. So, it is absolutely clear that it would not be fair for biological males to compete in the female category." — IOC President Kirsty Coventry.
In 2021, the generally left-wing IOC issued a Framework which emphasized inclusion and non-discrimination, shifted responsibility to individual international sports federations, and stated there should be no presumption of advantage based on biological sex alone. Then last month, they did a complete U-turn on it.
The IOC's shift wasn't a sudden "flip" due to ideology alone—it was driven by a combination of new leadership, accumulating evidence, direct input from athletes, and practical alignment with what major sports federations were already doing. The 2021 Framework had emphasized inclusion, no automatic presumption of advantage, and deferring decisions to individual sports.
By any measure, this reversal amounts to one of the most astonishing U-turns from a governing body in modern times. Four and a half years ago, the International Olympic Committee was lauding the appearance of the first transgender weightlifter, Laurel Hubbard, at an Olympics, and issued a framework to sports saying that transgender women “should not be deemed to have an unfair or disproportionate competitive advantage” over biological women.
Now it has not only abandoned up every last shred of that guidance but also performed a spectacular 180-degree turn. The IOC now states that the female category must be protected for fairness and safety reasons, and makes it clear that SRY screening – a sex test using saliva or a cheek-swab – will be used to determine biological sex.
There is also a geopolitical aspect to this shift. The new IOC policy aligns with a 2025 U.S. executive order under President Trump directing efforts to ensure sex-based eligibility for women's sports, especially relevant for the 2028 Los Angeles Games (hosted in the U.S., with potential implications for visas, funding, and logistics).
Conclusion
Both of these issues deal with moral and biological reality.
Biological: It doesn’t make any sense to have male events and female events if you’re going to allow males to compete as girls or women. That’s just not going to work for sane people. However, you don’t have the admission of this basic sanity from the left. The left is still in absolute commitment to the T in LGBTQ. As a matter of fact, they are doubling down, and in response to this IOC decision, you see an enormous amount of pushback from the left.
Moral: Christians believe that God created male and female for different and complementary purposes (Genesis 1:27). Culture may attempt to change the moral landscape, but the touchstone of Truth—the Bible—is unmoved in the face of such confusion. Male and female are glorious expressions of our created identity.
As Bible believing Adventists we need to be thankful for clarity and for sanity wherever we find it. We need to take note and appreciate it, and that’s what we have sought to do today in these stories from Colorado and the IOC.
You can have biblical sexuality (which is pure, good and wholesome) or you can have LGBTQ+. You can’t have both (Joshua 24:15)..

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15).
