The Witness of Barbara O’Neill
Fifteen years ago and before Youtube was much of a thing, DVD “bootlegged” copies of Barbara O’Neill’s health lectures from Misty Mountain Retreat Australia were making the rounds of SDA’s in the midwest (my home included) and perhaps other places around the world. Within 10 years, Barbara would be banned from teaching about health in her own country and would also have the full weight of the GC Health Ministries Dept.thrown at her.1
But much like the early Christian church, the more it was persecuted, the larger it grew. And now, Barbara’s witness for Christ is flourishing and being carried around the world, by the world! (not the SDA church!)
With the slow death of traditional media (TV, Cable, Newspapers, Radio), more people are turning to long-form podcasts for information and entertainment. Barbara recently joined mega-health influencer and biologist Gary Brecka for an in-depth discussion on health. It was fascinating to hear these two people who have a true passion for health share and exchange experiences. And with the case of Barbara, those in the know could hear lots of Bible and SOP health principles being shared. Gary has over 3 Million followers on Instagram and over 500,000 subscribers on Youtube. Just announcing the podcast with Barbara got over 18,000 Likes on Instagram. It’s exciting to see these mediums being used for good for a change. And, the stones are crying out!
The Witness of Dr. Roger Seheult
Two of the largest podcasts by subscribers and total viewed hours are: The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, and Huberman Lab with Andrew Huberman. These two podcasts alone have a combined 18 million subscribers with Diary of a CEO gaining 300,000+ new subscribers every month.
Steven is an entrepreneur with a knack for being open minded, respectful, and inquisitive of the guests he interviews. Andrew is a tenured professor of neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine. Both of them interview on a wide variety of topics with Huberman more focused on aspects of health.
Within the past six months, SDA physician Dr. Roger Seheult, Professor at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, has appeared on both of these podcasts.
I was unfamiliar with Dr Seheult. But when I saw a snippet of his appearance on Diary of a CEO, I saw this man talk about what looked like the 8 Laws of Health that SDA’s promote. Sure enough! It was so!
His two appearances on these shows have garnered nearly 8 million views! Rare it is that our health message is put in front of the world in such a prominent, unabashed way.
People are hungry and searching. Those searches have taken them out of the mainstream media to alternatives like those seen here. I highly suggest that you watch these episodes and recommend them to your friends and colleagues. We have a health message the world needs to hear.
“And you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles” (Matthew 10:18).
