In 2018, the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists distributed a book called Guiding Families of LGBT+ Loved Ones.
They wanted to respond to the LGBTQ rogue wave that was sweeping through western culture…but... But, they wanted an approach that affirmed people in their sexuality rather than lead them to repent of homosexual sin.
Worse, they completely ignored an entire ministry of former homosexual Seventh-day Adventists who resolved the sin of homosexuality through repentance and the redeeming power of Jesus Christ (Coming Out Ministries). The NAD went instead to a non-Adventist fellow, Bill Henson, who preached non-repentance and acceptance in his book Guiding Families. The NAD “Adventised” the book slightly and called it an Adventist version, distributing it to 7,000 Adventist teachers at the 2018 Adventist Educators Convention. They sent the book to thousands of Adventist pastors, directing Adventist thought on homosexuality towards acceptance rather than repentance. The book is also marketed by the NAD through Advent Source.
Wayne Blakely of Know His Love Ministries, spent a year researching the NAD book and has written an excellent biblical analysis of it in his new book Line by Line. The book is an effective resource for Bible-believing Christians seeking to understand the sexual revolution, and help individuals struggling with their identity to find a saving identity in Jesus Christ.
