Ideological liberals in the church adopted feminism as their defining doctrine back in the 70’s and 80’s. Most of them remained true to this doctrine as they assumed positions of power in the church.
Nowhere is this more true than in Australia, a country of easygoing citizens ruled by leftists both in the church and outside of it. Notice this article in the Review—an article that should not been published, unless it was to decry SDA feminism.
To the Review:
Justin, please run an article that explains the biblical dangers of SDA feminism. And, run an article that calls the SDA Church back to biblical patriarchy; men becoming courageous spiritual leaders in the home and the church, leading their families and congregations in a God-glorifying direction. This is what the Bible teaches.
To Church Members:
Feminism is not merely insufficient, it is incompatible with the Bible and Christian instruction. Women’s ordination is based upon feminism, a godless intellectual foundation contradictory to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The views of SDA feminism do not complement the Gospel; they completely contradict it.
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ” (Colossians 2:8).
When it came to worldly philosophy and human tradition, Paul did not tell the Church to adopt or adapt, but to abandon it (Ephesians 5:11).

Rather than seeking to reclaim biblical fidelity, SDA feminism creates a narrative that is inextricably entangled with leftist ideology and with manifest hostility for Adventism and everything about it. While it claims that its goal is fairness, it’s actually deception, cultivating a sense of weakness over biblical Christian history and a determination to destroy the past for the sake of victimhood present.
“Who am I” is among the most meaningful of human questions. Answering it without resorting to the Bible, is painfully difficult for Adventist people-of-the Book. Church members need an identity and SDA feminism creates manufactured identities, leading to the endless alphabet soup of sexual identities. It replaces biblical conviction with victimhood.
SDA feminism uses oppression to explain all the inadequacies of its narratives. While it claims that its goal is fairness, it’s actually unfair, cultivating a sense of liberal bias in the face of history and a determination to destroy our biblical past for the sake of an egalitarian future.
The victimhood of SDA feminism is debilitating for the church, but even more so for our members who rely on leaders for moral clarity. Underneath SDA feminism is an empty void. Feminism envisioned building a utopia out of people whose identities and beliefs had been washed away by unbelief. SDA feminism is incapable of achieving utopia; instead of biblically committed church members it creates starving peasants and illiterate factory workers.
SDA feminism spends all of its time deconstructing biblical truths to form new narratives. It thrives in posh SDA schools, Adventist institutions, and activist pastors, conference & union presidents.
SDA feminism means endless debates over culture, male leadership, biblical fidelity, ordination, unconcious bias, and the invention of new goal posts and genders to redefine victimhood. Beware the endless conversation, friends. Underneath all the posturing is the very real trauma of a new generation of church members with no sense of why they exist. It leads to SDA teenage girls who don’t feel at home in their own skins, and SDA teenage boys who have been as cut off from masculinity as their female counterparts are from femininity.
