In new display of apostate Protestantism, a Lutheran (ELCA) 'pastor' condemns John the Baptist as a hate-filled, violence-encouraging, anti-Jesus bigot During a recent sermon on Matthew 3, Joseph G. Crippen from the Mount Olive church in Minneapolis condemns him as a hate-filled, violence-encouraging, anti-Jesus bigot, and comparing his rhetoric criticizing the Pharisees and Sadducees to Trump for insulting the Somalis in his state. Specifically, his denouncement of John seems to be over Matt 3: 7-11, which he deems hateful, inflammatory, and unloving.
"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
Observations
Jesus unequivocally supported John the Baptist, but this apparently pastor knows more than Jesus. Behold the arrogance of Woke reasoning.
“Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist” (Matthew 11:11).
People do not drift toward righteousness. Apart from the stabilizing presence of the Word of God, we drift toward compromise and call it tolerance. We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward human wisdom and call it faith. We dabble in gnosticism and call it revelation.
We owe you an apology. When a Lutheran church in Greenville, South Carolina put a transvestite dressed in a demon clown outfit behind a pulpit we said, “It can’t get any worse than this.”
We hope this pastor never reads Matthew 23 or John 8. If he does, he may condemn the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Unfaithful pastors have prophesied smooth things; they have led their hearers to make void the law of God and to persecute those who would keep it holy. Now, in their despair, these teachers confess before the world their work of deception. The multitudes are filled with fury. “We are lost!” they cry, “and you are the cause of our ruin;” and they turn upon these false shepherds” (Great Controversy 656).
