Michigan's Ministerial Director Leaves to Become ASI Treasurer

The North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists has appointed Cody Francis to serve as secretary/treasurer of Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI), effective April 1, 2026.

“I believe God has uniquely equipped and shaped Cody for this position in the North American Division at this momentous time in the history of our division and in our world,” said G. Alexander Bryant, NAD president. “He’s a spiritual leader, and has been shaped by his pastoral background and his multiple experiences with ASI ministries. I look forward to the contributions he will bring to our team.”

For the past 4+ years, Cody served as the ministerial director for the Michigan Conference, working directly under Jim Micheff.

Some of you remember Cody for his cheerful announcement to the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church on December 7, 2024,

“The Michigan conference [roughly 2/3 of the executive committee are church employees, according to this image] has made the decision to transition [Ron Kelly] out of the village church. And we understand that this news may come as a surprise but this decision was approached with careful consideration and a desire to follow God's leading.”

After Francis’ statement, Head Elder Tom Wilson stood up and made this clarification, “Pastor Kelly has been transitioned out of the state of Michigan (not just the Village Church).”

Within the last twelve months, MISDA has lost their Secretary, Communications director, Ministerial Director, and 5 of their finest pastors. Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick was called to NNEC to serve as their Ministerial Director. We believe he will be an real asset to that Conference. Bryce Bowman is now employed as a pastor in the Carolina Conference, he will be an asset there. Pastors Gerhard Erbes, Ron Kelly, and Dennis Page all started new SDA ministries—ministries that are already proving to be a blessing.

Cody replaces Philip Baptiste as ASI treasurer. We are also informed that there is good reason that the previous treasurer was replaced.

We are told by a pastor that the previous treasurer took some public potshots at Fulcrum7 in an ASI meeting. He might have been better off with some introspection.

Some have asked why the NAD would be choosing a new treasurer? Why isn’t ASI choosing one? The answer is, ASI is affiliated with the NAD.

Walk with the King, pray much, and be a blessing!
