The press conference last evening occurred at 6:30 PM. It contained Sam Neves and a couple of the newly elected GC Vice presidents.
I asked this question “ Regarding block voting, where 5-7 names are presented as a chunk, what is the mechanism for voting on these individuals separately? A delegate requested from the floor that they be allowed to vote on these names separately. It seems to me that in the interest of accountability, delegates should have the option of voting for people individually, instead of in chunks.”
I was told that the chairman of the nominating committee sends the names over individually or as a group. The moderator could split the names up into individuals if he chose to do so (they never do). The names can also be referred back to the nominating committee if there are concerns about people on it. This ought to happen more often, in our opinion.
Sabbath Meet & Greet
This meeting went very well. There were about 100 people who attended. Some stopped in just to say hello. A delicious meal was provided. After the meal, I gave a 10-minute talk about how Fulcrum7 began, recounted some of the highlights of the last 9 years, and where we are heading.
Conrad Vine gave an update on his ministry, and Ron Kelly shared how the Lord is leading his new ministry. After that, there was a 60-minute Q&A period where attendees could ask questions or make comments. It resulted in a very meaningful discussion. We closed with prayer. A good time was had by all.
There was a vote yesterday regarding tithe-paying as a criteria for church office. Apparently, this clause has been in the official church documents for a while. It was retained.
Nancy and I are headed back to Ohio. I will report remotely on the meetings from here on out.
Stay sharp, love God and walk in truth.
