Nancy Wagoner's Battle Comes to an End

[Due to the anticipated size, her visitation and funeral service will be held at the German Baptist Brethren Church in Covington, Ohio on Thursday, July 31 from 4-7. They were kind enough to grant us the use of their building (address: 6360 Farrington, Rd. Covington, OH). There will be a meal served in the basement after the funeral service. Brother Andy Weaver and Conrad Vine will share the memorial service.]

For those wondering about my precious wife, her battle with cancer ended in the early hours, Friday morning. I was sitting by her side and holding her hand while it happened. Although it creates a tremendous loss in our lives, I am grateful that her suffering is over and that we had time to connect and 'set our house in order.'

Nancy developed cancer two days before Thanksgiving last year. The tumor was removed in December during a 4+ hour surgery. After healing from surgery, we went to Florida for three weeks, one of our favorite vacation spots (especially in February). When we returned home, we learned that the tumor had already returned and that it was a very aggressive type (carcinosarcoma). We entered a time of treatment, consisting of both allopathic (chemo) and wholistic methods. We got some special tests for her in Europe to see what might be effective in treating her. Partway through chemo, it appeared that the treatments might be working. But by the end of chemo, it became evident that the cancer had found a way around it and was growing rapidly. Our trip to GC Session was our last trip, and we cut it short due to her worsening condition. Her health went downhill rapidly in the last ten days.

Her last days were in our home, surrounded by friends and family and aided by hospice. On her last day yesterday she was surrounded by immediate family who were present at the end. We have this hope..

A heartfelt thank you to all who prayed for her and wished her well throughout this journey. We now look forward to the First Resurrection (Rev. 20:6) and the glorious call of the Good Shepherd who awakens His resting saints on That Day (Daniel 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:13, 16-17; John 5:28-29).

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Funeral arrangements will be shared here as they become available. Walk with the King, and be a blessing.
