SAU Black Convo Speaker is Proud to be Black And Wants Whites to Cash App Money to their Black Friends

This presentation occurred yesterday at Southern Adventist University, as part of SAU’s Black Christian Union. Here is an excerpt,

“Happy Black History Month, y'all. Um, I m a proud product of black American history. Um, my parents are black. And I'm a proud product of going to a historically black college university, Oakwood University.

So to all my black brothers and sisters in here, I see you. I see you. I see you. And I'm proud of you. And I'm proud to be black.

So to all my non black friends in here, go ahead, pull out your phones, open up Cash App, and cash out some money to your black friends today. Mhmmm. Mhm. Mhm. Yep. Yep. Yep. They deserve a little love this month.”

In 1997, Southern Adventist University (SAU) and Oakwood University, through the efforts of Gordon Beitz and Delbert Baker, formed a Diversity Education Exchange Program (DEEP) to focus on racial diversity.

Note that while DEEP has continued for decades (still active as of 2026), some accounts from the early 2010s observed challenges like limited cross-racial mingling despite the program's intent. Perhaps some financial reparations, like the suggestion above, will help.

Black Christian Union (BCU) is a student-led cultural club/organization specifically at Southern Adventist University.
It's open to students (primarily focused on appreciating and expressing Black cultural backgrounds on campus), sponsors events like vespers, field days, cultural nights (e.g., annual BCU Night), service activities, scholarships, and Black History Month observances. BCU provides community and cultural expression for Black students at SAU. It's listed among SAU's official student organizations, with its own leadership, sponsors, and Instagram/Facebook presence.
